Here's something to check out: Concerts playing orchestrated arrangements of game music!

Of course, they're not all that new, but I'm sure some people here didn't know of their existence.

Some of these godly arrangements below:

Super Mario Bros./World/64

Sonic the Hedgehog 1

Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross

Final Fantasy VI-Dancing Mad <-- Look at the size of that organ here!

*If the choral part of the FFVI arrangement sounds a bit echoey, it's just due to the camera's mic and the walls.

There's a lot more arrangements out there than this, but I couldn't be bothered to post it all.

Also, a note for anyone in the DC area: PLAY! will be held in Baltimore on July 18, 2008. Tickets are being sold for $30 and up, but it won't be long before all seats are taken, so if any of you want to go, you'd better hurry!

To Greth: ORCHESTRATED VERSION OF DANCING MAD IN THE FIRST POST!!

Unfortunately, it seems that the organist was less than up to the task. Upon listening to it again (and after pretty much memorizing the original work), I'm surprised at the number of mistakes he made. To be fair, it's an exceedingly difficult piece to play on a real organ (four keyboards; talk about "dancing"!), but he really didn't seem ready for such a performance.

EDIT: Listened to it again, okay, not THAT bad. But still, I was hoping for better than that.

Even then, I MUST hear this for myself in the actual concert! (Let's hope they've got the world's most talented organist with them by then)

(And yes, it's in the Sydney Opera House)
